NGK Spark Plug Europe, the word’s leading manufacturer of spark plugs, has added a spark plug from the company’s OE business with Korean vehicle manufacturer SsangYong to its Aftermarket range for independent distributors and workshops.

SsangYong’s M162E32 six-cylinder petrol engine powers the Rodius van and the Chairman saloon. On the Rodius as manufactured from 2005-2012, it delivers 162 kW (220 HP) from a 3.2-litre displacement. In the Chairman, which was launched in 2007, the same displacement provides 165 kW (224 HP).

Under the bonnet of these cars, NGK Spark Plug’s BKUR5ETZ-10 guarantees perfect ignition. It is a HEX16 spark plug with a thread diameter of 14 mm. This item is equipped with 3 nickel ground electrodes, spreading the normal wear linked to spark erosion. This enables a long maintenance interval of 60,000 kilometres for an economical solution.

Additionally, the spark plug features semi-surface technology to prevent ignition failures caused by sooting. The principle behind this: Even if the insulator is fouled and the spark can not arc-over from the centre electrode to one of the ground electrodes, a special insulator design enables the spark plug to produce an arc-over from the insulator to the ground electrode. Such sparks simultaneously remove carbon deposits from the insulator until a regular arc-over over from the centre to the ground electrode is possible again.

Independent workshops replacing spark plugs on the Rodius or Chairman can now choose spark plugs in original quality, as NGK Spark Plug Europe has just made the BKUR5ETZ-10 available to the Aftermarket. NGK’s stock number is 91926 and is equivalent to the manufacturer number 1621593103. All vehicle applications and further details can be looked up in the electronic catalogues.
